Another non-user-interactive work of socio-economic commentary is Carlo Zanni's eBay Landscape. In this work, a simple Haiku-like image depicting a distant mountain range and a bamboo plant in the foreground is constructed using data gathered from three separate sources. The sky color is based on the user's unique computer IP address, converted into a corresponding color value. The mountain range is nothing more than eBay's stock chart depicting the most recent day's price fluctuations. The texture of the bamboo plant is the image grabbed from cnn.com's top story of the day. Zanni combines notions of personal identity (unique IP address), market forces (eBay stock chart) and social behaviors (as manifested in CNN's top stories) into a unique depiction of the modern human experience.
