comment:

texts from 1991-1993 and 1995 and 1996 are heavily influenced by sampling
technology. i used to and still sometimes do call my technique text-sampling.

imagine 1991/1992, HANS BERNHARD in a pink fur jacket and a light brown
nylon suit, with huge sunglasses and brown high-heels, on ecstasy and lsd in some
techno-club in amsterdam, zurich, basel, berlin or milano, with my brandnew mac
140 labtop, hammering words, associations, beats and conversational bits into the
machine, visiting the toilet to talk to 14 year old kiddies on lsd.

during the weeks, working a 9-5 job from 1991 to 1992. the house law said, drink
1 bottle of whiskey per night and have the tv running on full blast, have tons of
magazines and people around, plus my written notebook. this combination gave
me the text-samples i needed to get word-content. my main talent is arranging,
rearranging and aesthetically queing fragments and paragraphs into a fluent flow
of bits, of characters in the end. pure aestehtics filled with hatred and emotions,
without any censorship or other negative or positive influence. a good combination
at the time and still. text-sampling is something we all do constantly and permanently,
there is no new arrangement of characters but there is a endless number of
possibilities of character arrangements. brilliant, beautiful, great, a living
contradiction, proof of live, a reason to die for.

during this time, HIRN-lein was founded in zurich / switzerland. the HIRN-lein
crew woud infrequently come by and visit my palace in basle / basel to shoot
video features of me performing my poetry / text and display and act out my
total madness on pills and alcohol. we also discussed ideas and concepts if i
was in the verfassung to do so. my textual work produced for HIRN-lein is
limited but exquisit, posters, concept papers, 2 liners and story fragments.

WORDWAR was the logic next step to publish the material online and to touch
people with it and get touched. but more important, to realize the text-sampling
on another level, with digital technology. the primitive but highly effective script
would simply fill in a word or a sentence or a text randomly. the base text would
grow unlimited and the logic of the abstract base text would be further and further
destroyed by internet-users from around the world. i never took the next step,
because it was conceptually clear what to do, but not interesting enough to invest
much time and energy into it. alternatively i started to develop and heavily invest
into the etoy.TANK-SYSTEM v.2.0, v3.0. and v4.0. the version 1.0 was collectively
created in zurich over a period of 5-6 days. now the new version demanded for
way more conceptual thinking. we wanted to build a system where we could
live, publish, experiment, communicate and offload everything anytime. WORDWAR
version 1.0 became part of the etoy.TANK-SYSTEM v2.0 - v.3.0, but was then
banned / censored due to my non-censorship policy and the new WORDWAR
version 2.0 including hardcore pornography / porn and extrem pictures [rotten.com
style ].

the WORDWAR performance was the public highlight of the juvenile but stylish,
bukowski and fassbinder influenced thinking and acting out. during the VIPER
video- and new media festival in lucerne / switzerland, a huge performance hall
was waiting for hans_extrem , etoy.BRAINHARD to roll in with his wheelchair,
to scream fascist but true down-to-earth philosophy into the faces of the arty-
fucky public. the live-connection to germany was overpumped by the emphatic
and delirious four-on-the-floor beat designed by etoy.ESPOSTO / gino esposto
for this not so etoy conform event. read the text to get the message, imagine HANS
BERNHARD with his wheely pumping bad vibes into bad people. not a good
experience for anybody involved, but a lot of work.
